The Polish Club co-sponsored with the Chicano Caucus Día de los Muertos - the closest tradition to the Polish All Souls Day we could find this side of Atlantic. Halloween is not much of a European tradition just yet!
This is what the Chicano Caucus says about the celebrations:
“Rooted in Mexican Catholicism and indigenous history, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a celebration of All Soul's Day. It is a celebration of life and death where we honor our loved ones who have passed and remember their contributions to life. Tradition calls for the building of an altar and celebratory Mariachi music. The altar consists of pictures of people who have passed away, food, candles, and small objects that remind us of those who have left us.”
